One volume "Report of the district commander, camp at Walsenburg, from October 28, 1913 to May 5, 1914" from Edward Verdeckberg to John Chase, then Brigadier General, commanding the military district of Colorado; also two scrapbooks of newspaper clippings, one about militia activities during strike in Cripple Creek district, 1903, the other chiefly about Ludlow coal-miners' strike, 1913-1914.

"Routt Rifles" was one of the units that made up the Colorado State Militia during the late 19th century. The unit was also known as Company E, First Regiment of the Colorado National Guard. In 1883, the company met for drill on Thursday evening of each week at the State Armory located between 1448 to 1454 Champa street at the corner of Fifteenth Street, Denver, Colo.
